This was an outstanding book. I loved both Ashlyn and Maddox and the situation he found himself in was heartrending. It was a good introduction to the other Lords and a great start to the series. I am waiting impatiently for the Darkest Whisper to come out.

Ok, I cried like a baby at the end of this book. This is the only LOTU book where tears formed & fell of their own accord. I did not expect what happened!! A surprise is just that: unexpected. Yup, this book was unexpectedly gooood! I thoroughly enjoyed Ashlyn and Maddox’s love development. I was hesitant to read Gena’s work but after seeing Kresley Cole dedicating some of her books to Gena, I decided to start with LOTU and now I’ve read ALL of Gena’s books! Soooo good, such a creative writer. The worlds in Alien Huntress, Atlantis, LOTU are so complex and….different from one another, you can’t mistake the separation of series. By far, her mind surpasses any other author I’ve read (including but not limited to J.R. Ward, Lara Adrian, Laurell K. Hamilton, Sherrilyn Kenyon). I also enjoyed Catch A Mate. Keep it up Gena because you got what we want.
I’ve read all of the LOTU books to date including Darkest Whisper (just as awesomely amazing as i expected
) but to date my favorite is and probably always will be Darkest Night, Maddox is like a drug to me. I can’t seem to get enough of him, and each time I finish one of the other LOTU books i always go back and reread, (or listen to on my ipod) his story. You have a wonderful writing strength Gena, you are able to create amazing mind blowing worlds, defining each and every one seperately but somehow intertwined by your passionate writing. You are able to give full minds and backgrounds to even the antagonists, something quite a few authors can fall just a bit flat on. They make their characters too shallow, or with no real defined background or grudges or resentments. but your characters, all characters, feel all , remember all. You are an ispiration to me and several of my friends as we work together to try and write stories.

i have read all the lotu books so far (several times actually) but to date maddox and ashlyns story remains my fav. i love how maddox is so volatile yet gentle. everytime i read it and i think i’m heading for seventh right now i cry as maddox begs reyes and lucien to stop. sigh!!!! every time, i know it’s coming and still i bawl like a baby. love the series!
This is first book I’ve read from the LOTU series. I liked it a lot. You are a great writer, Gena. It was nice that Maddox was able to reveal his vulnerable side to Ashlyn even though he (or rather his spirit) wanted to kill and cause chaos, all the time. I think that you should totally write a book about Torin. I think that of all the lords, he is the one who is least likely to have a conventional romance. It’ll be interesting (and totally sexy) to see how he will fall in love with a woman. Great first book!
I very much agree with everyone thay Darkest Night is a very GOOD book. It is my most favorite book. I love the others but Maddox is a man of volience but to be tamed by a woman like Ashlyn is incredible. Gena is very good and love all the stories with all the lords. Would be nice to see Areon and Legion as one. But, hope that the angel will bring him love. Can’t wait for next year to read the rest.
I read a preview of this book, it looks and sounds very good so I’ll keep this series in mind when it’s time for me to buy another book
OMG I love this book.. I have read it.. It will make you cry.. I have to agree with everyone, this book is really good and it is out standing.. I think it is a good start and I can’t wait to read The Darkest Kiss, boy it was good.. I will turn you on, and will get you horny lol, and I have to amit something I did cry, that she had to do what she had to save her own lover and now they are living with together and helping finding the box, new beginning to this series.. I give it two no ten thumbs up for this auther.. Good Book, and I loved it…
I am soooo in love with your lotu series and I agree with Dulaku a romance for Torin will be seriously interesting especially with the touch you die clause in the mix.

This book began my love for the Lords of the Underworld Series. Found the first 3 books in the series at a thrift store, read them all in a week, and rushed out to get Sabin’s story. Each book i read I’ll swear that this is my favorite Lord, until I finish that book, reach for the next one, and fall in love with a new Lord all over again.

Oh my god this was the first book of this series that i read but i devoured it in a night and immediatly started looking for more!! i loved this book and think that gena showalter might be one of the best writers of this century for paranormal romance!
